This low-brow, high-art contraption creates explosive celebrations at the touch of a button. In homage to the humble plastic party toy and to follow his interest in loud bangs, renowned automata artist Martin Smith has developed a nonsense machine that elaborately assists you in the firing of party poppers.

Load one popper into the chamber and tuck the string through a hole in the gear. Pressing the big red button causes the wheel to start turning, slowly pulling down on the string until... Bang! The popper eventually breaks the tension and explodes in a flurry of colorful confetti. Three convenient storage chambers hold additional poppers for multiple celebrations.

Limited Edition of 10, made exclusively in red for Art of Play. Due to shipping regulations, Party Poppers will not be included in orders outside the U.S.

Pulled this out for my sister's birthday and the button-press launch got a bigger reaction than the cake. That single loud bang is weirdly satisfying, and cleanup was way easier than sweeping up confetti scraps. It's a ridiculous machine and I'm keeping it.

Wasn't sure a machine could top the cheap plastic poppers from my childhood, but this thing fires with a genuine bang that made the whole room jump. The automata craftsmanship is legit too—it's basically a little kinetic sculpture that happens to explode confetti. Guests keep asking to press the but

The automata-style build makes it feel more like a sculpture than a toy, and guests always ask about it before it even goes off. Only gripe is it's loud enough that my neighbor came over to check on us.
