De wervelende Vortex is een van de moeilijkste Hanayama Cast-puzzels ooit gemaakt. Drie bijna identieke metalen spiralen zijn strak opgerold in een complex geheel. Om ze los te maken, moet je de twee uitsteeksels op elk onderdeel zien te omzeilen die voorkomen dat het geheel uit elkaar valt. Het is echt, echt moeilijk. Maar zoals bij alle geweldige puzzels wordt je inspanning beloond met een ingenieuze en prachtige oplossing. Nog beter is de bevredigende klik die je hoort wanneer je de drie stukken weer in elkaar zet tot hun ingewikkelde bundeltje.

Ontwerper Akio Yamamoto zegt dat het concept is geïnspireerd op beelden uit de hindoeïstische mythologie die bovenmenselijke halfgoden met drie gezichten en zes armen uitbeelden. Als je deze zakpuzzel uit elkaar kunt halen en weer in elkaar kunt zetten, bereik je misschien zelf de status van halfgod...
