Barn Owl Puzzle

The photo really doesn't do the carving justice—the way the owl's wings blend into the single piece of wood is something you have to hold to appreciate. Took me a solid twenty minutes to figure out how the mouse fits into the scene, which was exactly the kind of challenge I was hoping for.

The grain runs through the carved wings so smoothly it feels like one continuous piece, and the way the owl’s head lifts off with a satisfying click is pure craftsmanship. I’ve solved a lot of wooden puzzles, but this one’s silhouette is so elegant I almost didn’t want to take it apart.
