이 상을 수상한 퍼즐은 마치 공구 서랍 바닥에서 발견할 법한 사고처럼 보입니다. 하지만 이는 매우 의도적이고 뛰어난 디자인으로, 눈에 띄지 않게 숨겨져 있습니다. 처음 두 개의 U자형 볼트를 분리하려고 시도할 때, 너트가 풀리지 않는다는 것을 알게 될 것입니다. 몇 번의 시도 끝에도 부품들이 영구적으로 붙어 있는 것처럼 보일 수 있습니다. 매듭을 풀기 위해서는 우아한 움직임이 필요합니다.
U&U는 2014년 올해의 퍼즐로 선정되었습니다. 홍콩의 Kyoo Wong이 디자인했으며, 일본의 Hanayama가 제조했습니다.
The disguise is brilliant—it genuinely looks like a random bit of junk until you start fiddling with it, and then the intentional design clicks. The mechanism is smooth and satisfying once you figure out the first move, and that "aha" moment made the price worth it for me.
Took me three evenings of staring at that innocent-looking hardware piece before the mechanism finally clicked in my brain. The way the solution reveals itself once you stop forcing it is genuinely clever engineering disguised as chaos.
The way it masquerades as a random hardware scrap is genius—I nearly tossed it twice before realizing the trick. The satisfying click when the pieces finally align makes the frustration worth every minute.
