ポップアップブックに驚きのひねりを加えた一冊。タイトルが示す通り、この小さな本を円形に開くと、360度のパノラマシーンが現れ、幾重にも重なるシルエットが浮かび上がります。ここでは、富士山がその威厳をあらわにし、渦巻く雲と燃えるような真っ赤な太陽に囲まれ、優雅なタンチョウヅルが山腹に舞い降りています。建築家、大野友資による創作です。
The layered silhouettes catch the light beautifully when you rotate it slowly, and the circular fold is sturdier than I expected for something this delicate. I've already got it perched on my shelf where the 360-degree view actually makes it look like a tiny architectural model.
The moment I closed the circle and the final layer clicked into place, it felt like holding a tiny piece of Japan in my hands. The layered silhouettes create such a deep sense of depth, and I keep unfolding it just to watch the panorama snap together again.
I’d seen pop-ups before, but the way these layered silhouettes build into a full circular scene around Fuji is genuinely clever. The paper has a nice weight to it too, so the whole thing stands firm once you’ve got it arranged.
