Questo tipo di trottola per predire la fortuna fu introdotto per la prima volta quasi 1.500 anni fa. Oggi, in Giappone è rimasto un solo artigiano con l'abilità di trasformare metri di nastro in colorate trottole rotanti. Il tessuto viene avvolto a mano attorno a un gambo di bambù, rendendo ogni Kyoto Spinning Top un pezzo unico. Un'antica tradizione artigianale rivisitata in chiave moderna.
